Assalam Alaikum,
Intuitively, you know there is some connection between money and happiness.
But, my question to you is: When/How money made you happy in the
past? Do you recall a situation? Is it simply buying something,
if so how long that happiness last? Is it giving a gift? Is it
donating your money?
Share your thoughts here (as a comment):
May Allah give us all both happiness and money (and everything
good in this life and the hereafter)
New research shows that money is related to happiness but not totally. Basically, experiential purchases can bring more happiness than non-experiential ones. So, a trip or quality time with family may bring more long term happiness than just a new car or phone.
You can read more about it in the New York Times article: But Will It Make You Happy?

I am most happy with money when I can buy something to help my family or give to others.

well it was the time when i was in saudia and was working with my father at his company, i used to get 20,000 saudi riyals a month and that made me happy!! another time is when a poor mother asks people on the street to give her money soo she can buy the milk for her new born… i felt happy giving her a new can of baby milk, so she could feed her young one…
it makes me feel bad at times when poor women who cant afford children and still their husbands are soo eager to have children…
MAY ALLAH HELP US ALL..

Money has made me happy a couple times. Once, I was able to donate through Heifer International. The thought of the gifts being passed from family to family, helping people improve their lives made me happy. Another time, I was without income and had growing utility bills. The money I received paid those bills, and provided necessities for my children. That made me happy – knowing they were provided for.

Yes, giving sadaka makes me happy, giving gifts makes me happy, buying gifts (or anything) for myself makes me happy, and of course, receiving gifts (no matter how small they are) makes me happy as well. Alhamdulilah, almost anything happened daily makes me happy.
Each one of these experiences creates excitement and joy for me. Each one of them is unique and special in its own way and yet insignificant to be recited. They are simply indivisible, ongoing, and Insha Allah will be carried on into Hereafter.

time is one of the tool through which we can earn more money and if i utilize my time and my strength for the well being of another person with the sole intention to get the return from my Lord and the person for whom i am using these basic tools….that gives me an ultimate satisfaction…money indeed is important but not the primary tool for being happy…indeed it diminishes after reaching a basic level.
yup experience is what matters a lot.

Money really made me happy when i could help, or give a gift to someone with it, the one time i “thought” money made me happy when in fact it did NOT was the time i saved it up and spent it on a vacation, till now even, i keep thinking, what was that for? Islam is so true, in making us understanding that money is purified only when it is spent on a good purpose, or sharing. I really feel good when i spend it on someone.

ASSALAMUALAICM WARAHMATULLAH……
IT MADE MY EYES TWINKLING WHEN I MET ONE POOR LADY ASKING FOR JUST 50 PAISE FOR HER LUNCH. I COULDN’T STOP MY TEARS THINKING THAT HOW POOR SHE IS. I STARTED THINKING THAT ON ONE SIDE ITS ME WHO SPENDS THOUSANDS OF RUPEES JUST FOR EATING & ON THE OTHER HAND WAS THIS LADY WHO WAS BEGGING FOR JUST 50 PAISE, AND TOO FOR HER LUNCH. WHAT CAN SHE HAVE IN 50 PAISE? WAS A BIG QUESTION IN FRONT OF ME.
IT GAVE ME REAL HAPPINESS WHEN I GAVE HER ALL THE MONEY THAT I HAD AT THAT TIME. I COULD LITERALLY SEE HE CRYNG LOOKING AT THAT MOMENT.
MAY ALLAH S.W.T. HELP ALL OF US IN GOOD HEALTH AND GOOD WEALTH AS WELL. AMEEN.
