For Muslims, seems we value giving donations more than supporting Halal businesses (trigger up). I believe if a community has businesses that offer great service, they should setup some kind of cause-related campaigns with them, where the community members support the these businesses and these businesses donate part of the revenue to causes. wa alaikum assalam,

As the administrator of the plan, it stands to reason that you can then control which mutual funds or stocks the corporation will invest in, which is something you cannot do as an employee of someone else's corporation. The corporation can have halal investing. The additional point about the business being of greater utility to the ummah is really good too. The American ummah definitely needs social enterprises and regular businesses dedicated toward our community. Assalaamu ‘alaykum ibn Halal,
